Hectors Dolphin

Your own slice of paradise
Only a handful of houses dot the remote landscape along the beach at Porpoise Bay.
Now you have a chance to lead the lifestyle you want in a sensitively designed subdivision that promises to be the perfect escape from the stresses of everyday life.
This is a place to go barefoot, get sand between your toes, go for long walks and relax.
It's one of the only places in the world where you can walk from your home to the beach below, plunge into the sea and swim with a pod of dolphins. The surfing is world class, the hunting excellent and the trout fishing outstanding.
This is the home of the Kiwi-ana summer lifestyle – a nostalgic reminder of days gone by, but with all the conveniences of modern living.
This truly exclusive 16-section subdivision is your chance to own property in a low impact, low density residential development. The land is naturally sheltered from prevailing winds, and this stretch of natural and rugged coastline has a microclimate all of its own.
Relax Kiwi style, in a retreat where memories are made. Where else in the world could you see those little black and white dolphins frolicking in the waves from the comfort of your lounge?

Home to a few, beloved by many
The Catlins region is all about rugged natural beauty as far as the eye can see. Porpoise Bay is one of many natural wonders of the region which includes the world-renowned Cathedral Caves, Jacks Blowhole, magnificent waterfalls and the powerful setting of Nugget Point.
At the end of the Curio Bay peninsula, located next to Porpoise Bay, is one of the world's finest fossil forests, the remnants of a 180 million year old Jurassic-age forest. Here the Catlins' rare and much-loved Yellow Eyed Penguins make their ritual daily progress from surf to land, waddling up the beach and into surrounding bush to nest for the night.
The Catlins is unspoilt and uncluttered, without a traffic jam, high rise building or crowds in sight. From Porpoise Bay, look into the distance and you can see the rock stacks at Brothers Point, occupied by roosting seabirds and a New Zealand fur seal colony.Nearby Waikawa Harbour is a natural haven for a small fleet of fishing boats and the perfect spot to launch your own fishing adventures.
Established coastal settlements hug the contours of the land including Kaka Point, Owaka, Jacks Bay, Pounawea, Tautuku Bay and Papatowai.

A rare treat
Hector's dophins are one of the rarest and smallest dolphins in the world, but Porpoise Bay has its own resident group of about 20 of these beautiful mammals. During summer and autumn the dolphins spend most of their time in the bay, regularly coming within ten metres of the beach.
